River Wild

About this board game

River Wild is a single-player land-building game for one player that takes about 15 minutes to play. Released in 2023, it challenges you to shape a harmonious landscape as a magical river flows downstream.

Each year, the first snow brings new life to the realm of Wild. As sunlight melts the snow on the highest peaks, rushing water floods the valleys below, creating a changing landscape for local wildlife.

On each turn, choose one of the three river cards on display and add it to your land to extend the river. Every card must be placed below the source card, ensuring that the river continues downstream toward you. When selecting a card, you may look at and play either side of it before refilling the display.

Continue choosing and placing cards until all available cards have been added to your land or you can no longer play. The shape of your river determines which valleys become protected and which remain unscored.

• A protected valley is completely surrounded by river or mountains, with no card gaps.
• Unprotected valleys do not score.
• Protected valleys score according to the wildlife and scoring goals inside them.
• Dragons, jackalopes, toads, and unicorns all contribute to the scoring challenge.

Look for opportunities to make matches while guiding the water through the landscape. In River Wild, thoughtful card choices help you create protected habitats and earn as many points as possible from your finished land.
