About this expansion

Fronte Russo: A Panzer Grenadier Expansion Book is a two-player supplement for 30-minute Panzer Grenadier games, covering Italian forces and battles on the Eastern Front.

Created by designers Ottavio Ricchi and Lorenzo Striuli, this expansion examines the summer 1941 deployment of three Italian divisions alongside the German invasion of the Soviet Union. The Italian Corps for the Russian campaign arrived at the front in August and soon entered combat with the Red Army.

The book places its scenarios within the broader context of Italy’s war in Russia. Its background articles cover the Italian divisions sent to the front: the Pasubio and Torino infantry divisions, along with the Duca d’Aosta cavalry division. These were well-trained regular army units, although they were not well equipped by most standards.

  • Background articles on the Italian campaign in Russia
  • Scenarios set on the Eastern Front
  • A full set of die-cut and mounted counters
  • Content for the Panzer Grenadier game system

Fronte Russo is a book supplement and cannot be played by itself. Ownership of Eastern Front is required for most scenarios, while Road to Berlin is required to play all of them.

Designed to add the Italian experience to the Panzer Grenadier series, Fronte Russo combines historical background with scenarios focused on the Pasubio, Torino, and Duca d’Aosta formations. It is part of the Panzer Grenadier series and was released in 2007.
