About this board game
Robotory is a two-player board game designed for a 15-minute play time, in which players compete to bring at least two of three robots onto their side of the game board.
The game ends when the supply cubes of one color are exhausted. To win, a player must have at least two robots on their side at that moment, making the position of the robots and the available cubes central to every turn.
On a turn, a player chooses one of three actions:
- Place a cube of either color from their personal supply onto the game board.
- Take cubes from the supply.
- Move a robot by having it eat the appropriate cubes.
Each robot has its own appetite. Two robots eat cubes of only one color, while the third robot eats cubes of both colors. Players must therefore manage the colored cubes while working to guide the robots toward their side before the game-ending supply condition occurs.
First released in 2006, Robotory offers a compact contest built around cube placement, supply management, and robot movement. Its clear three-action turn structure makes every choice directly connected to the changing board position and the dwindling supply of cubes.
The 2015 edition, PakuPakuPark, replaces the robots in a factory with animals on a farm. In that version, the dog eats ham, the cat eats fish, and the pig eats both foods, giving the same concept a different setting and cast.
