Roll for Great Old Ones: A Roll & Write Game is a cooperative Lovecraftian game for 1-4 investigators, with sessions lasting around 90 minutes. Players must work together against ancient evil powers and prevent cultists from completing a ritual that will doom the world.

At the heart of the game is a distinctive dice-drafting system. Players draft dice from a general pool to program actions on their investigator boards, carefully deciding which dice to use and which to leave behind. Any remaining cultist dice will trigger actions during the scenario, making every choice a matter of team discussion and negotiation.

As investigators confront the growing threat, they can develop their capabilities and support one another. The cooperative gameplay lets the team:
