About this board game

Rolling Village is a roll-and-write village-building game for 1–12 players, playable in about 15 minutes. Using a shared pair of standard six-sided dice, everyone designs a village on their own sheet with a pen and a little luck.

Each game lasts nine turns. At the start of a turn, one player rolls both dice for the entire table. During the Building Phase, players use the rolled faces to draw Projects on their village grid. The available Projects are Houses, Forests, Lakes, and Squares.

After construction comes the Scoring Phase. Add the two dice together to identify the active Avenue, which is a row of the village. Players inspect that row and use it to determine which connected groups score.

  • Draw Projects on your personal Village Sheet using the shared dice results.
  • Build connected groups of Projects of the same type.
  • Score a group only when at least one of its Projects is in the active row.
  • Count all points shown on spaces containing Projects of that type.

Because the dice are shared, every player responds to the same results while developing their own village. The scoring rule rewards connected Projects, but the active row changes from turn to turn, creating a compact puzzle of placement and timing.

After the ninth turn, add together all points scored throughout the game. The player with the highest total wins. Designed as a quick, accessible experience, Rolling Village is available for free in the BoardGameGeek files section and provides a complete village-building challenge with minimal components.
