About this board game

Rome Alone is a fast-playing solo resource management game for 1 player, designed to be completed in around 15 minutes. Take the role of a legendary Roman leader and decide whether your reign will bring lasting glory to the empire.

Each turn, draw cards and make difficult choices about how to use them. Gather industry, culture, and military resources, then spend them to expand your empire and improve your position.

• Conquer regions through military strength.
• Build infrastructure and buildings to improve your engine.
• Construct monuments with powerful abilities and scoring potential.
• Save enough military resources to defend against barbarian invasions.

Every round brings competing priorities. Resources used for conquest or construction may leave you vulnerable when the barbarian hordes arrive, while saving too much for defense can limit your opportunities to develop Rome. As the invasions become increasingly menacing, careful planning becomes essential.

After the third round, compare your score with the history books to measure the success of your rule. The result offers a concise test of your decisions, from the regions you conquered to the buildings and monuments you completed.

For a longer challenge, an optional campaign mode links multiple games into a connected series. As challenges begin to stack up, you must determine whether your leadership can guide the empire toward glory—or leave your reign as another forgotten page in history. In Rome Alone, every card and resource decision helps shape your fate.
