About this board game

Rome: City of Marble is a Euro-style tile-laying game for 2–4 players, with approximately 60 minutes of play time, set in Ancient Rome during the reign of Augustus Caesar.

Players represent powerful Patrician families competing for the prestigious title of Architect of Rome. As leading citizens, they influence and direct the construction of an ever-expanding metropolis, using shrewd neighborhood development to strengthen their position in Roman society.

Construction is at the heart of the game. Players develop the city by building civic structures that shape daily life, worship, health, camaraderie, philosophy, the arts, and entertainment. The available building themes include:

• Civic buildings, whose construction allows influential players to score points.
• Temples for worship.
• Baths for health and camaraderie.
• Theaters for philosophy and the arts.
• Arenas for entertainment.

Building more also brings Imperium, the measure of real power in Roman society. Players can score extra points by constructing Bridges, Aqueducts, and Fountains, while their wealth provides another source of points. Bonus points are awarded for Imperium, making development and influence central to the race for prestige.

With its Ancient Roman setting and focus on expanding neighborhoods, Rome: City of Marble presents a contest of urban development and ambition. First released in 2015, it challenges players to build, gain influence, and pursue the glory of becoming Rome’s foremost architect.
