Rome: Rise to Power

About this board game

Rome: Rise to Power is a game for 2–4 players that takes about 60 minutes, casting players as noble families competing for power in the late Roman Republic.

Across five rounds, each family seeks popularity by shaping four influential areas of Roman life. Expand Roman sovereignty through military campaigns, exploit riches and supply the Forum’s Markets, offer the finest shows in the Games, and extend political influence by granting exclusive privileges to the republic’s decadent senators.

Every round follows a clear four-phase structure. Players first roll Power Dice and determine turn order, then place their dice before resolving their effects and completing scoring and clean-up. This dice placement system is designed to strengthen player decisions while reducing the impact of luck.

3. Resolve Power Dice.
4. Score points and complete clean-up.

Rise to Power also introduces special action cards that can break the standard rules of play. By changing these cards to build a unique deck, players create a personalized experience that can continue to evolve with their gaming group.

After the fifth round, players tally their points. The player with the highest total wins Rome: Rise to Power and is declared the first Imperator.
