Römisch Pokern

About this board game

Römisch Pokern is a dice-based push-your-luck game for 2–6 players, played in about 30 minutes. Roll dice to form Roman numerals, then place your results in ascending order while trying to score more points than your opponents.

On your turn, begin by rolling one die. After every roll, decide whether to stop or continue by rolling another die. You may keep rolling as long as the results can still form a valid Roman numeral, but one unlucky result can make the number invalid and end your turn.

If you finish with a valid number, write it in one of the seven rows in your column on the scoresheet. The numbers must be arranged from top to bottom in ascending order, and you cannot repeat a number already recorded in your column. This makes every placement important, since a result may fit only in certain spaces.

• Roll dice to create Roman numerals.
• Choose when to stop or risk another roll.
• Place results in ascending order across seven rows.
• Use six action cards to improve difficult turns.

Each player receives six action cards that can turn a bad roll into a good one. However, using them requires careful judgment: every action card still unused at the end of the game provides bonus points.

The game ends when a player has filled all seven numbers in their column. After scoring the recorded numbers and any bonuses from unused action cards, the player with the most points wins. In Römisch Pokern, the best result comes from balancing ambition, timing, and the risk of rolling once more.
