About this board game

Rossyïa 1917 is a strategic-level, mid-high complexity board wargame for 2–5 players, covering the military aspect of the Russian Civil War from 1917 to 1922. A full game takes approximately 300 minutes and focuses on the conflict at an operational level.

The full-color map stretches from the Polish border to the Siberian plains, using a hexagonal grid in which each hex represents 25 miles. Players command military formations represented by brigades and divisions, each rated for steps, combat, movement, and shock, reflecting unit quality.

Players alternate HQ units to carry out a range of actions, including moving military units and initiating combat. The rules include shock combat, political events, rail movement, naval movement, air power, tanks, armored trains, and reserves, creating a broad framework for operational decision-making.

  • Two maps, each measuring 80 cm by 60 cm
  • More than 1,000 counters
  • 37 pages of rules
  • Charts supporting the game’s systems

With its large geographic scope, detailed unit ratings, and numerous movement and combat systems, Rossyïa 1917 presents the Russian Civil War through a substantial tabletop military simulation. The combination of alternating HQ actions, specialized forces, political events, and varied transport options makes it a demanding choice for players seeking a detailed operational wargame.
