About this expansion

Rune Stones: Nocturnal Creatures is an expansion for 2–4 players that adds new Banshee cards and a Wisp mechanic to the game, with a play time of about 90 minutes. Released in 2019, it introduces new effects that connect scoring progress with additional rewards.

During setup, place a Wisp token face down every five points on the scoring track, up to space 50. There are 11 Wisp tiles, so one is not used. Reveal the tokens, then leave the 2–3 “Wisp” tokens on their spaces. Whenever a player reaches or passes one of those spaces, they may choose a face-up Wisp tile and receive its immediate bonus.

The expansion also includes 16 Banshee cards: one in each color for each of four reward types. These cards add varied effects to play, from taking gems to recovering cards from the discard pile.

• Steal: If possible, all players give a gem of the corresponding color to the player.
• Resurrect: Search the discard pile, choose a card, and place it in your discard pile as normal.
• Wisped: Take an available Wisp tile and receive its reward immediately.
• Card Switch: Destroy the played Banshee card and take a card from the display directly into your hand. The other card goes to your discard pile regardless of its number.

With its score-track bonuses and four distinctive Banshee effects, Rune Stones: Nocturnal Creatures adds new ways to use progress and card effects during the game.
