About this board game
Runika and the Six-sided Spellbooks is a 2020 dice-and-puzzle game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. You take on the role of a student at Archmaster Luniorn the Green’s runecasting academy, where survival depends on learning to use the resources in front of you.
Runika Jones is a professional thief and amateur runecaster whose encounter with Luniorn leads her to the academy. There, students must study properly, impress the Archmaster, and graduate rather than face the mercies of the Baroness’s keep guards.
Each turn presents a changing puzzle to solve. Draft customised dice, roll them, and move them into specific runic patterns to cast spells. The game rewards thoughtful decisions and practical resource management, making it a strong fit for players who enjoy dice games that lean toward skill over luck.
Play against your friends or tackle one of four solo challenges. Rotating elemental disks on the player boards, spell master cards, and rune and merit cards support the magical academy theme while giving you tools to consider as you plan each move.
- 80 dice in four different elements
- 4 player boards with rotating elemental disks
- 4 spell master cards and 4 summary cards
- 40 mini-American rune and merit cards
- 53 tokens, a bag, a rulebook, and a first-game guide
With its plucky apprentice story and ever-changing runic challenges, Runika and the Six-sided Spellbooks combines magical-school flavor with a focused dice-manipulation puzzle. It is designed for fans of magical apprentices, young adult-style heroes, and games where clever use of available options matters more than simple luck.
