About this expansion

Ruthless: Tall Tales is an expansion for the award-winning pirate deck-building game, supporting 1–4 players in games of around 60 minutes. Released in 2022, it brings new thematic content, mechanics, powers, and artwork to the high seas.

The new Merfolk suit adds a dual-rank mechanic, unique artwork, and new powers. Flexible enough to complement many raiding parties, the Merfolk open fresh possibilities for building combinations and adapting your strategy.

An ancient danger also rises from the deep. When the Kraken emerges, attacking it becomes the priority, while its tentacles provide plentiful rewards for pirates willing to face the threat.

• The Notorious: Infamous figures can offer their services for the right price, adding strength and powerful new abilities to your crew.
• Chests & Quests: Achieve one-off goals to claim treasures, then decide whether to keep the points, use a one-time extra power, or recruit one of the Notorious.
• New Powers: Five powers introduce additional strategies and combinations for cunning pirates to exploit.
• Solo Mode: Take on pirate Queen Ching Shih in an all-new challenge for a lone player.
