Sauros

About this board game

Sauros is a dinosaur-themed trick-taking puzzle game for 2–5 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Players win tiles and place them on their player mats, aligning suits and symbols to create dynamic scoring opportunities.

Every trick brings a new twist: the trump suit changes with each trick. Players must account for the current trump suit while competing to win tiles, then use those tiles to work toward the scoring conditions on their mat.

Sauros is played over a series of rounds. At the end of each round, the player mats are rotated, changing the scoring conditions associated with each player and adding variety across the game.

Once every player has played each mat, the points from all rounds are tallied. The player with the highest score wins, rewarding successful tile placement and effective adaptation to the changing trump suit and rotating mats.

With its combination of trick-taking, tile placement, symbol alignment, and asymmetric scoring, Sauros brings together familiar competition and a puzzle-like scoring system. Its dinosaur theme is represented through the five distinct mats, while the round structure ensures that every mat takes a turn in play.
