About this board game

SCOPE U-boot is a two-player board game of submarine hunting and convoy warfare, with tense 15-minute battles set during the Battle of the Atlantic.

The German player commands a hidden U-boat beneath the surface, seeking to sink the merchant ships crossing the sector. The Allied player must guide the convoy while searching for the submarine and protecting vital freighters from attack.

The game uses a grid of cards to create its board, offering many strategic possibilities in a compact format. Ships move across the surface, but freighters travel more slowly, making their safety a constant concern as the U-boat stalks its targets.

Every torpedo attack creates a crucial decision for the Allied player. When the submarine fires, it gives away its position, but the response is not always obvious: should a freighter dodge the incoming torpedo, or should the destroyer move toward the area where the shot originated and attempt to sink the U-boat?

A stand-alone installment in the SCOPE system, SCOPE U-boot shares its card-grid foundation with its predecessor while offering a very different experience. Select a scenario, build the grid, and enter a deadly dance of stealth, torpedoes, escorts, and survival.
