About this board game
Scoundrel Society is a 2–5-player card game that takes about 45 minutes, challenging players to steal the most loot from a carefully selected mark without getting caught.
Each player takes the role of a member of The Society, a gathering of notable con artists who meet once a year to demonstrate their craft. Lift loot from the mark by playing one of five action cards, with most of these actions working best when played alone. Careful timing and a light touch may help you build a valuable haul while keeping attention away from yourself.
Every piece of loot brings more than potential reward. Many items have unique abilities that can affect the game, but each also carries a suspicion value. As suspicion builds, the danger of Constable Cramphorn catching up with you becomes increasingly important.
- Play action cards to take loot from the mark.
- Use loot abilities to influence the course of the game.
- Manage suspicion while competing with fellow members of The Society.
- Compare the value of your ill-gotten gains if you escape apprehension.
Constable Cramphorn is revealed from the last ten cards of the loot deck. When that happens, the player with the highest suspicion score is apprehended, removing them from the final comparison. The remaining players then measure the value of their stolen loot to determine who is the most dirty and rotten member of the Scoundrel Society.
With its mix of theft, special loot effects, suspicion management, and a dangerous late-game reveal, Scoundrel Society turns a refined gathering into a tense contest of criminal skill. Watch your back: stealing from another Society member can be just as entertaining as fleecing the mark.
