About this board game

Scrutineyes is a 1992 observation and word-search game for 2–8 players, played in about 30 minutes. Players study a cartoon drawing packed with details, then race to identify things that begin with a nominated letter.

At the start of a round, a die is rolled and half of the picture is obscured. All players then have 60 seconds to write down as many qualifying finds as they can. The challenge combines quick visual scanning with inventive word recall, as every detail in the illustration could potentially provide another answer.

Points are awarded for successful finds, but an answer only scores if your opponent does not find it too. This gives Scrutineyes a competitive twist: spotting something first is not enough if another player has written down the same thing.
