Secret Hitler

About this board game

Secret Hitler is a game of political intrigue and betrayal for 5–10 players, played in about 45 minutes. Set in 1930s Germany, it secretly divides players into liberal and fascist teams, with one player taking the hidden role of Secret Hitler.

At the beginning, the fascists learn each other’s identities and discover who Hitler is. Secret Hitler keeps his eyes closed but signals his identity, while Hitler does not know the other fascists and the liberals know nothing about anyone’s allegiance.

Each round, players elect a President and a Chancellor. Together, they enact a policy from a random deck, leaving the table to decide whether a fascist policy reflects betrayal or simple bad luck.

As fascism advances, the government gains powers that can create even more chaos. Players must weigh accusations, alliances, and election choices while trying to determine who can be trusted.

• Liberals: Pass five liberal policies or assassinate Secret Hitler.
• Fascists: Pass six fascist policies or elect Secret Hitler as Chancellor after three fascist policies have passed.
• Secret information: Fascists know Hitler’s identity, but Hitler does not know his fellow fascists.

The liberal team always has a majority, but cooperation alone is not enough. Liberals must identify the threat before the fascists gain control, while the fascist team works to sow distrust and install its leader.

With shifting elections, hidden identities, and consequences tied to the policy track, Secret Hitler creates a tense contest of suspicion and persuasion. Every government can change what the table believes about the players around it.
