Sensu

About this board game

Sensu is a card game for 1–5 players with a play time of about 25 minutes, in which players collect Japanese folding fans and race to complete their personal collection.

During the game, players work to collect fan cards worth exactly 15 in their hand. Once that total is reached, the combination can be played to redeem one or more of its cards. Those redeemed cards are then used over time to build personal fans.

The central challenge is deciding when to form the required total and which cards to redeem. Every completed fan brings players closer to the finish line, with the first player to complete their third fan winning the game.

For players seeking additional rules, the Advanced Game introduces Power Tokens, Power Bonus Markers, and Great Fans. These additions provide a more developed version of the core experience while keeping the focus on collecting, calculating, and building.

Sensu also includes rules for a solo game, making it possible to enjoy the fan-collecting challenge alone as well as in a group. The game won the 2023 Gioco Inedito contest, and the current 2025 version is a new edition of that title. The earlier 2023 version was published as a limited edition under the DV Games label and has slightly different rules without the Advanced Game.
