About this board game

Sentient is a dice-manipulation board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Released in 2017, it challenges players to build and program a network of valuable robots while competing for investor support.

Each turn, choose an available bot and add it to your factory. The robot you select modifies your board, while your decisions determine how to divide resources between improving the bot and attracting investors to your company.

The central puzzle comes from the dice surrounding each robot slot. When a bot is added, the dice on either side are modified according to its card. Adding another adjacent bot on a later turn can change those dice again, so every placement affects both your current plan and your future options.

At the end of the round, the final dice numbers show how efficiently your bots were programmed and determine how many points they provide. A carefully arranged network can deliver strong rewards, but one poorly considered choice—or a final placement that alters an adjacent die—can unravel an otherwise effective plan.

  • Choose available robots and add them to your factory.
  • Manipulate surrounding dice through your bot placements.
  • Balance bot optimization with attracting investor support.
  • Earn points from the final efficiency of your programmed robots.

With smart, simple choices and a satisfying spatial puzzle, Sentient asks you to anticipate how each new robot will affect the entire network. Program effectively, secure the right patrons, and build the most formidable operation in the sentient revolution.
