About this board game
Serpent’s Tongue is a spell-casting simulation game for 1-8 players with a 30-minute play time, inviting players to become Magi and wield the language of creation.
According to its setting, this forbidden language was stolen and given to Eve, granting the power to alter reality. Since then, inheritors of this knowledge have walked among humanity for millennia, pursuing greater power, control, and even god-hood. These powerful figures are known as Magi.
At the heart of the game is your Hardbound Spell Codex. Build it with Incantations, then cast those spells using an actual functioning language. This distinctive approach makes the act of casting central to the experience, transforming forbidden knowledge into the game’s defining mechanism.
- Play as a Magus wielding the language of creation.
- Build a Hardbound Spell Codex with Incantations.
- Cast spells using an actual functioning language.
- Take part in competitive battles or cooperative adventures.
Serpent’s Tongue comes as a standalone core set and can be expanded with Inscription Packs. Whether the goal is to challenge another Magus or work together through an adventure, the game frames spell-casting as a direct simulation of reality-altering power.
Released in 2013, Serpent’s Tongue offers a focused fantasy experience built around language, knowledge, and magical ambition. Its combination of a physical spell codex, Incantations, and functioning language gives the game a distinctive identity for players drawn to unusual spell-casting systems.
