Shapers of Gaia

About this board game

Shapers of Gaia is a 2022 board game for 2–3 players, with approximately 90 minutes of play, about restoring Gaia and its ecosystem. Emerging from a vault after millennia, each Shaper works alongside a caretaker robot to bring ruined biomes back to their former splendor.

Repopulate the land with species old and new, while gathering rare resources such as nutrients and energy to grow faster. Restoration comes with a risk, however: newly restored biomes also provide resources to rival factions, giving every improvement wider consequences.

The game includes six different Shapers, each with unique abilities. Use those abilities as you compete for resources and prestige, shaping your approach to the rebirth of Gaia.

• Restore ruined biomes and rejuvenate the ecosystem.
• Arrange animals according to their established behaviors to gain prestige.
• Collect DNA samples and unlock new Shaper abilities.
• Gather nutrients and energy while managing the benefits offered to rival factions.

Prestige can come from several aspects of your restoration work, from organizing animal life to collecting DNA and developing your Shaper’s abilities. The competition continues as each faction seeks to make the greatest contribution while gaining the resources needed to advance.

At the end of Shapers of Gaia, only the Shaper with the most prestige will be allowed to permanently join the caretaker as a guardian of the rebirthed Gaia. Restore the ecosystem, exploit its opportunities, and make your claim as the faction best suited to protect the planet’s renewed future.
