About this board game
Shipwrights of the North Sea: Redux is a Viking-era board game for 1–5 players, with games lasting around 80 minutes. Set circa 800 AD, it challenges players to become shipwrights competing to construct the greatest fleet on the North Sea.
Across 5 rounds, players draft Village Cards and develop their settlements while carefully managing resources and workforce. Oak, wool, and iron are needed for construction, while gold is a precious commodity that must be spent wisely.
The township is filled with an array of characters, including craftspeople who can help your efforts. Players can also recruit Jarls and attract Heroes, adding further ways to distinguish their settlement from rival clans.
- Draft Village Cards over five rounds.
- Collect and manage oak, wool, iron, gold, and workforce.
- Construct Longships and Buildings.
- Recruit Jarls and attract Heroes.
- Compete for Victory Points and the most glorious settlement.
The aim is to finish with the most Victory Points. Points come from constructing Longships and Buildings, recruiting Jarls, attracting Heroes, and collecting Gold, so every decision can contribute to your final score.
Shipwrights of the North Sea: Redux is an entirely new game rather than a simple revision of the original. Although it shares thematic elements and player goals with its predecessor, its core gameplay has been completely rebuilt to create an experience more in line with what fans of Garphill Games have come to expect.
