About this board game
Skippity is a colorful 2–4 player board game with a playing time of about 30 minutes, released in 2010. Players jump tokens across a 10×10 board, capture the tokens they clear, and compete to assemble sets in five different colors.
To begin, one hundred tokens are randomly laid out across the board. The four central squares are then emptied, creating the open spaces needed for movement. On a turn, a player takes a single token and jumps orthogonally over an adjacent token into an empty space.
The token jumped over is captured and placed in the player’s stack. A turn can include multiple jumps, allowing a player to capture every token jumped during the sequence. The open spaces and available jumps change as tokens move, so each turn can affect the possibilities that follow.
- 10×10 board with one hundred tokens in five colors
- Orthogonal jumps over adjacent tokens
- Multiple jumps and captures on a single turn
- Scoring based on sets of five differently colored tokens
Play continues until no more jumps are possible. Players then compare their captured stacks, with every complete set of five differently colored tokens counting as one set.
The player with the most sets wins. If players are tied, the tiebreaker is the number of captured tokens that are not included in sets. With its bright layout and direct jumping rules, Skippity turns a simple movement system into a contest over captures, open spaces, and color combinations.
