Snapshot: Wildlife Photographer is a 2021 board game for 2–4 players, played in around 45 minutes, about tracking animals and taking prestigious wildlife photographs.

Travel to exotic locations, brave difficult terrain, and compete to become Wildlife Photographer of the Year. This accessible yet tactical game combines dice management, set collection, and a touch of push-your-luck, all supported by beautiful wildlife photography.

Each turn unfolds across three stages. During Research, reveal animal cards to expand your options and gain tracking tokens that can improve your rolls. You can reserve animals for later, but your hand limit is two cards, and drawing too many new cards may spook the animals and end your turn.

• Prepare: Allocate your six dice to the animals and habitats you want to photograph.
• Photograph: Explore each chosen habitat, then roll to capture its animals before they get away.
• Improve your odds: Spend tracking tokens on important rolls, or save them for a more difficult attempt.

Rarer animals and more challenging habitats offer greater prestige, but spreading your dice too widely can leave you with no photographs at all. Exploring a habitat successfully can also support multiple animal attempts in the same location, creating valuable tactical opportunities.

Collect Photography Awards by photographing three animals from one habitat or one animal from each habitat. Awards are worth more when claimed earlier, while secret Assignment cards provide additional prestige for photographing specific animals and characteristics.

The game ends when one player reaches the required number of photographs. Add the prestige from animal photographs, awards, and assignments to determine the winner. With simple rules, meaningful choices, and a family-friendly pace, Snapshot offers plenty of depth for experienced players too.
