Soccer 17

About this board game

Soccer 17 is a two-player soccer game played with only 17 cards in about 17 minutes. Each player represents a team, and every turn represents three minutes of the match as both sides secretly choose an action.

The attacker can play Dribble, Pass, or One-Two, while the defender chooses between Press, Block, Anticipate, and Tackle. Reveal the cards together: if the defender correctly predicts the attacking action, the ball is won. Otherwise, the attacker may carry out the action, move the ball one area forward, take a shot on goal, and potentially gain a Star for a shot bonus.

The powerful Tackle can defeat both Pass and One-Two, but it carries a serious risk. If the attacker plays Dribble instead, the result is a foul: the defender must discard the Tackle/Rebound card until the end of the half, while the attacker receives a Free Kick or Penalty.

When a shot is taken, the defender holds six Chance cards face up, allowing the attacker to take cards one by one, up to the shot’s Strength. Each choice creates suspense as the attacker weighs the possibilities and the defender watches, hopes, and bluffs through every reveal.

With the ball moving back and forth, both teams search for an opening and a strong chance to score. Soccer 17 delivers an easy-to-play, exciting match with a strong soccer feel, and its format also supports tournaments or leagues.
