About this board game

Sock Monsters is a 2020 board game for 2–4 players that takes about 25 minutes, challenging brave elves to rescue socks and collect three matching pairs before anyone else.

While the house is empty, industrious elves explore the board, searching chests and cabinets for colored socks. But sock monsters creep in from the corners, eager to steal lone socks from careless elves and carry them into dark corners.

Each round begins with the monsters. A player places a color die beneath a monster figure and moves it across the board, keeping the die hidden during movement. Once the figure is lifted, the revealed face determines what happens: a closed eye means the monster has fallen asleep and the turn ends, while an open eye allows the player to perform an action.

• Monster movement: Move a hidden-die monster and reveal whether it is awake or asleep.
• Elf exploration: Search rooms, chests, and cabinets for colored socks.
• Pair collecting: Match socks and put them on your hands, feet, and ears.
• Take-that tension: Monsters can steal lone socks or be unleashed on opponents.

After the monster phase, the elves take their turns, trying to gather matching colors while avoiding the dangers closing in around them. The game also invites discovery through useful items hidden in compartments of the game box, with the experience evolving as you play.

In Sock Monsters, every search can bring an important match—or leave a vulnerable single sock for a monster to snatch. The first player to collect three pairs wins.
