About this board game
SOL is a 60-minute board game for 2–8 players, in which two rival teams explore a colorful, forgotten island in the Atlantic Ocean and compete to escape with the treasure of the God of the Sun.
Players divide into adventurers and conquistadors, with each team controlling three or four characters. Every character has movement, fighting, and search skills, space for two or three items, and a unique special ability for use in the advanced game.
On each turn, all characters on one team act one after another before the opposing team takes its turn. Spend action points to move around the island and search its locations. Searches can reveal useful movement and fight tokens, flags for claiming docks, or clues that advance the hunt for the treasure.
- Explore: Search the island for resources, flags, and clues.
- Compete: Fight opposing characters to hinder them or steal the treasure.
- Plan your escape: Claim docks and use clue cards to influence where the treasure is found.
Clue tokens let players play cards, and those cards determine the treasure’s location. The final location may favor one team more than the other, making the race to secure it especially important.
Once the final clue is found, the treasure is up for grabs. A team must have one of its characters carrying it on a dock that team can access at the start of its turn. Simply possessing the treasure is not enough: the opposing team may still be able to steal it away. In SOL, exploration, timing, fighting, and a carefully planned route off the island all matter.
