Space Aztecs

About this board game

Space Aztecs is a fast card game for 2–6 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. The Aztecs are under attack by alien invaders, and your goal is to gather the inhabitants of your city, protect them from flying saucers, and accumulate points.

At the start of each turn, beginning with the first player, each player chooses one face-down deck from eight. Everyone then selects a card to play simultaneously, paying close attention to the time of day shown on it.

Card timing determines the order of play. The player whose card shows the earliest time plays first and becomes the first player for the next round, giving the turn structure a constantly shifting rhythm.

Several card families shape the action, with each offering its own scoring opportunity or special effect:

• Warriors
• People of the High Society
• Villagers
• The Agency

Some cards let you score points, while others trigger flying saucer attacks. Choosing when to play a card means weighing its effect against its time of day and the changing threat facing the city.

The game ends when a certain number of decks are empty or when a certain number of flying saucers have been played. With its simultaneous card selection, distinct card families, and short playing time, Space Aztecs presents a focused contest of timing, protection, and point accumulation.
