Sports Illustrated Baseball is a tabletop baseball simulation for 1–2 players, with games taking about 45 minutes. Released in 1972, it presents the teams and players of the 1970 season through detailed color charts.

This edition expanded team rosters to 25 players per team. Each team appears on a double-sided color chart without folds, giving players a compact reference for managing their baseball lineups and simulating play.

The game belongs to a broader line of Sports Illustrated sports simulations published by Time Inc. The series began in 1971 with Sports Illustrated Major League Baseball, which used 20 players on each current team displayed on tri-fold color charts. The following year brought the larger 25-player format used here.

Time Inc. also released All-Time All-Star Team Charts in 1972, featuring 25 of the “best” players from the histories of the original American League and National League franchises. Those charts later appeared in a separate All-Time All-Star Baseball game, while the all-time concept eventually moved to individual cards in Superstar Baseball.
