About this board game

Stable Times is a strategic horse-arranging game for 1–5 players, playable in about 30 minutes. As a skilled trainer, you must guide a herd of show horses back to the stable and create a layout that keeps every horse content.

Each turn, take one horse card from the pasture: choose a face-up horse or draw a random card from the deck. You may then place up to two horses from your hand into your stable, steadily shaping an arrangement that balances each horse’s preferences with your overall scoring plans.

Every stable contains four aisles, and each aisle can house only one type of horse. This restriction makes placement an important puzzle. Horses have individual scoring rules: some prefer to stand next to certain types, while others simply want to be placed in their favored aisle.

  • Grouping: Organize horses by type within the stable’s aisles.
  • Placing: Use each horse’s personal preferences to build valuable arrangements.
  • Scoring: Earn points from horse cards, your unique stable, and sets of disciplines.

The game ends when a player has filled at least three aisles of their stable. Players then count the points shown on their horse cards, the bonus values of their unique stable, and points earned from discipline sets. The player with the most points wins.

With face-up choices, random draws, limited aisle space, and horses with distinct personalities, Stable Times combines planning with a touch of intuition. Every placement can influence the final stable, so thoughtful grouping and timing are key to guiding your show horses toward a winning result.
