About this board game

Stage II is a two-player trivia game with an approximately 90-minute play time, released in 1985. It challenges players to answer six trivia questions before identifying the theme that links their answers together.

The game unfolds in two stages, with each stage offering a different way to earn points. The first stage rewards speed and correctness, while the second asks players to make a connection across the answers.

  1. Answer six trivia questions: receive one white chip worth 1 point for each first correct answer.
  2. Find the linking theme: receive one maroon chip worth 5 points for the first correct answer.

White chips represent the points earned from the individual trivia questions. The maroon chip carries a higher value, making the connecting theme an important part of the final score.

Because the game moves from separate questions to a shared theme, Stage II combines recall with pattern recognition. Players must first provide correct answers, then use those answers to discover what they have in common.

At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins. With its two-stage structure and distinct scoring chips, Stage II offers a focused trivia challenge for exactly two players.
