About this board game
Star Trek Customizable Card Game is a two-player customizable card game set in the Star Trek universe, with games lasting approximately 45 minutes. Released in 1994, it challenges players to complete missions and reach the winning score before their opponent.
Players play ships and crewmembers as they attempt to “solve” missions at discrete locations. Completing these missions earns points, while the opposing player works to prevent those missions from being completed.
The game’s central contest is a race for points. The first player to reach 100 points wins; if one player’s deck runs out before either player reaches that total, the player with the most points wins.
Its customizable card game format places the focus on the cards players bring to the table and how those cards support their mission attempts. The Star Trek setting provides the framework for journeys involving ships, crews, missions, and locations.
For players interested in the wider game system, the original release has a connection to Tribbles Customizable Card Game as a spinoff. It was also re-implemented by Star Trek Customizable Card Game (Second Edition). The game should not be confused with the 1996 Fleer/Skybox release, Star Trek: The Card Game, which is set in The Original Series setting.
