Start Player: A Kinda Collectible Card Game is a one-minute card game and start-player selector for 2-999 players, released in 2006. Flip a card, read its criterion, and determine instantly who goes first.

Each card features a specific attribute that identifies the Start Player. The criteria range from the tallest player or the person with the most buttons to the last player to listen to live music. If players tie, the cards include a built-in tiebreaker system to settle the result.

• Play the complete game included in every deck with any number of players.

Beyond their practical use, the cards form a complete game of their own. Each one includes a unique comic panel featuring Ted Alspach’s Board 2 Pieces characters as they discuss the card’s criterion or other gaming-related issues.

The Starter Deck contains 42 cards, including a mix of uncommon and common cards and at least one rare card. Booster Packs containing 13 cards were also sold. The game was announced by daVinci Games and Z-Man Games in August 2008, with publication expected around Essen Spiel 2008.

Start Player is out of print. Its published set contains 54 cards with no variation between decks, along with rules and a Start Player character meeple. The game was later re-implemented by Start Player.
