About this board game

Stella Quest is a 2024 trick-taking game for 2–4 players that plays in about 25 minutes. Players take on the role of stars embarking on a dangerous journey to collect six human emotions.

Each emotion is won by winning a trick. Collect all six different emotions to win the game, but every victory brings a risk: winning a trick attracts the attention of the Black Star.

When the Black Star is watching, winning a trick costs the successful player one of their lights. Every player begins with five lights, so pursuing emotions can bring you closer to victory while also putting your survival at risk.

  • Trick-taking gameplay: Win tricks to claim human emotions.
  • Six-emotion objective: Collect all six different emotions to win.
  • Black Star threat: Winning while being watched costs a light.
  • Five-light limit: Lose all your lights and you lose the game.

Stella Quest creates a sharp dilemma around every successful trick. Winning is essential for collecting the emotions, yet winning while under observation can consume your light and move you toward elimination.

With its blend of a clear collection goal and a dangerous cost for success, Stella Quest turns each trick into a choice between advancing your quest and protecting your remaining lights.
