About this expansion

Stone Age: The New Huts is a 2008 expansion for Stone Age for 2–4 players, with a playing time of 60 minutes. It adds six new huts to the game, each offering a distinct combination of victory points and benefits.

The new huts are shuffled together with the existing huts. Depending on the number of players, a number of huts are then randomly removed from play, so the six additions may or may not appear in any particular game. This creates a different selection of available huts from one game to the next.

Each new hut has its own cost and reward:

  • Wooden Hut: costs 3 wood, scores 3 victory points, and grants 1 wood each round.
  • Clay Hut: costs 3 bricks, scores 4 victory points, and grants 1 brick each round.
  • Stone Hut: costs 3 stones, scores 5 victory points, and grants 1 stone each round.
  • Kindergarten: costs 1 brick and 1 gold, scores 5 victory points, and grants 1 additional people figure.
  • Workshop: costs 1 wood and 1 stone, scores 5 victory points, and grants 1 new tool.
  • Greenhouse: costs any 3 resources, scores 5 victory points, and grants 1 additional space on the food track.

With benefits ranging from recurring resources to an extra people figure, a new tool, or an improved food track position, these huts expand the range of rewards available in Stone Age. Their random inclusion means players cannot assume that every new hut will be available.

Stone Age: The New Huts was released with the Hans Im Gluck Almanach edition of Spielbox magazine in September 2008, alongside Carcassonne: The Cult. The six huts are also included in the first full expansion, Stone Age: The Expansion.
