About this board game

Stonehenge is a two-player game played in about 15 minutes, in which druids compete to become the Master Druid by claiming lines with their megaliths.

Each player has eight coloured megaliths—tall wooden blocks—and nine matching numbered discs: 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The board is a distinctive triangle formed by five intersecting lines, with its corners lopped off. The lines contain 2, 3, 4, 5, and 4 spaces, while five additional spaces along each side hold the players’ megaliths.

  • Take turns placing a numbered disc on an intersection of the board’s lines.
  • Build the majority total in a direction to claim a line.
  • Place one of your megaliths on the line’s endpoint when you claim it.
  • Place your eighth megalith to win the game.

Every disc placement can affect the totals along the lines, making each choice part of a careful balancing act. Ties are not simply shared: on a tied line, the player who placed the last disc loses it. This rule forces players to judge when to strengthen a line, when to hold back, and how their latest move may change the board.

Stonehenge is the same game as Linea, released in a smaller board format in Spielbox in 1992. The Megalith edition is Selection #9 of The Games Collection by Pin International, and Stonehenge itself was released in 1994.
