About this expansion
The Skirmisher #2 is a 56-page support magazine for 1–2 players of the Great Campaigns of the American Civil War series, with an approximate play time of 600 minutes. Published by Multi-Man Publishing in 2003, it combines authoritative articles, tested scenarios, and game inserts for the GCACW system.
This issue introduces two historical mini-modules. Rebels in the White House covers Jubal Early’s 1864 raid into Maryland and Washington, DC, while Burnside Takes Command focuses on the 1862 Fredericksburg Campaign. Together, these additions expand the series with new historical situations to explore.
The magazine includes supporting materials for both modules, including an off-map movement chart, an Alexandria add-on map, a Baltimore add-on map, and a 140-counter die-cut countersheet.

Additional content includes modified victory conditions for the Maryland Campaign, Piedmont—a new scenario using the Here Come the Rebels maps and Grant Takes Command units—and rules clarifications since Grant Takes Command. The issue also features a Grant Takes Command series replay and a GCACW Journeys article covering romance and real life.
Designed as a second gamers guide to the GCACW series, The Skirmisher #2 explores strategy, tactics, variation, design, and historical background across the games. It is a focused collection of scenarios, historical material, and physical components for players building on their Great Campaigns of the American Civil War collection.
