About this board game

Storm Over Scandinavia is a Europa IV game for 1–4 players, with an approximately 480-minute playing time, covering Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the wider northern theater of World War II.

At its center is a full Europa-level invasion of Norway, code-named Weserübung, unfolding alongside Germany’s attack on France. The game combines ground, sea, and air forces, with units and time represented at Europa scale. Its scenarios explore both historical operations and dramatic alternatives.

The release also reissues Narvik: The Campaign in Norway, 1940. In this intense combined-arms game, Germany brings an overwhelming invasion force, while the Allies rely on time and space to resist, disrupt the operation, and potentially win. The result offers an even play balance and extensive variation.

  • Storm Over Scandinavia: A multi-corps invasion of Norway featuring combined-arms operations.
  • The Four Hour War: Germany invades Denmark in a high-stakes special-operations gamble. Danish resistance could turn it into a Five Hour War and jeopardize the invasion of Norway.
  • Northern Theater of Operations: Combines Weserübung with A Winter War, beginning with the Soviet attack on Finland. Western Allied intervention may require transit through Norway, whose response—and Germany’s—can alter the situation. Ownership of A Winter War is required.
  • Invasion Sweden: Tests a German invasion of Sweden, including possible motives such as preventing aid to Norway or securing the flow of iron ore.

Storm Over Scandinavia includes detailed orders of battle for Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish forces from 1939 to 1945, plus German Northern Theater forces from 1940 to 1943. The package contains ten map sections, five countersheets with 1,400 counters, scenario and Narvik rules, and numerous charts, tables, and displays for Europa and Grand Europa play.
