About this expansion

Summit: The Board Game – Teams is an expansion for 2–6 players that adds team-based play to Summit, with sessions lasting about 150 minutes. It supports both competitive and cooperative modes, allowing players to work alongside a teammate while pursuing a shared climb.

This expansion changes the experience from a straightforward take-that or survival contest into a challenge built around planning and cooperation. Teammates must coordinate their decisions, work together effectively, and make sure their flag remains planted at the Summit.

In cooperative play, the team faces the demands of the ascent together. Success also depends on survival: at least one member of the team must live to tell the tale. These shared objectives create room for tense decisions, closer interaction, and memorable stories during each game.

The Teams expansion adds new content designed to give Summit greater strategic depth and more ways for players to affect one another. Its components include:

  • New player boards
  • New Item, Event, and Karma cards
  • Square “climbing ladder” tiles

Whether players choose a competitive contest between teams or a cooperative effort, the expansion encourages them to think beyond individual survival. Teammates need to plan together while responding to the changing demands of the climb and protecting their shared position at the Summit.

With its combination of team coordination, player interaction, and new strategic elements, Summit: The Board Game – Teams offers a deeper way to experience the game. Released in 2019, it is designed for groups seeking a longer, more collaborative mountain-climbing challenge with stories that can stay memorable long after the game ends.
