About this board game

SuperGang is a Mafia-themed board game for 3–5 players, with an approximate playing time of 120 minutes. Released in 1985, it casts each player as the godfather of a three-gangster team competing for control of the town.

Each gang includes a killer, a dealer, and a vamp—a femme fatale. The goal is to own one complete suburb or become the last surviving gang. Before that happens, players can steal money in the street, deal drugs, vamp other characters, and buy, racket, or rob shops.

  • The killer receives a bonus when fighting.
  • The dealer is the only gangster who can deal drugs.
  • The vamp can vamp characters belonging to other players.
  • Characters can kill rival gangsters, shopkeepers, or cops.

Cops are normally played by the player whose turn it is, so they move during every player’s turn. They may testify against or arrest gangsters, although they can also be bought. A variant allows a fifth player to control the cops, with the objective of sending every gang to prison.

Combats are resolved through distinctive dice-and-dart-pistol duels. Players roll according to the characters involved: a standard character rolls 1D6, a killer rolls 1D6+2, and a cop rolls 2D6. The highest total acts first, then fires as many darts at the cardboard targets as the difference between the totals.

Players alternate attacks until one side has shot down all opposing targets. Face-down targets indicate a killed character, while face-up targets are wounded. If all three members of a gang are dead at the same time, that player loses—so recruiting reinforcements may be essential in SuperGang.
