About this board game

Supply Lines of the American Revolution: The Southern Strategy is a two-player strategy wargame for a 120-minute game, covering the second half of the American War of Independence in Virginia, Georgia, and the Carolinas.

This standalone sequel shifts the focus from the Northern Theater to a smaller, resource-starved Southern theater. The British must balance their campaign against concerns over Caribbean possessions, while George Washington remains focused on taking back New York. Unsupported, Cornwallis must work to pacify the Southern colonies one at a time without allowing his army to become trapped.

Operational maneuver is central to the game, with both sides fielding smaller armies and facing far fewer resources than in the earlier conflict. New, unforgiving siege rules make positioning especially important, turning movement and escape into critical parts of the campaign.

Alongside the operational struggle, partisan warfare creates another contest for control. Crown Loyalists can extend Cornwallis’s supply lines, while Patriot Militia can use Raids to harass British forces. These irregular forces help shape the flow of the war beyond the movements of the main armies.

  • Logistics: Manage scarce resources and maintain effective supply lines.
  • Maneuver: Use movement and positioning to avoid traps and pursue opportunities.
  • Sieges: Face new rules that make fortress operations especially unforgiving.
  • Partisan warfare: Deploy Loyalists and Patriot Militia to influence the campaign.
  • Naval affairs: Account for the wider strategic pressures surrounding the Southern theater.

Winning requires mastery of irregular warfare, operational maneuver, siegecraft, naval affairs, and, above all, logistics. With its cat-and-mouse campaign and emphasis on supply, Supply Lines of the American Revolution: The Southern Strategy offers a sharply different experience from its predecessor.
