About this board game
Sweet Nose is a 3–5-player trading game with a playing time of about 45 minutes, set in an ancient Chinese city famous for its delicious sweets.
According to legend, Sweet Nose loved sweets so much that he climbed a ladder made from shrimp to reach the best sweet in heaven. The god of thunder struck him down, and the unfortunate mortal became the source of the tiny insects known as ants. In the city, players must enjoy its candies carefully to avoid following his fate.
Players aim to eat the most types of candy by trading with one another. However, the sweetness of each candy differs for every player, so a seemingly generous trade may carry a hidden cost. Watching other players’ reactions is essential as you decide what to offer and what to accept.
- Trade with a friend: Exchange one candy with another player, placing the candy received on your mouth board.
- Trade with the market: Put one of your candies into the central market and take one of its candies onto your trading dish board.
Different shops also provide different surprises, adding another consideration when choosing which candies to pursue. Entering specific stores may even mean needing to run from the thunder of heaven.
At the end of Sweet Nose, the player who has eaten the most sweets loses. The winner is the player who has eaten the fewest, making every exchange a balance between collecting different candies and avoiding an overload of sweetness.
