Tang Garden: Ghost Stories

About this expansion

Tang Garden: Ghost Stories is a 2020 expansion for 1–4 players, with an approximate play time of 60 minutes. Inspired by ghost stories from Chinese literature, it introduces supernatural characters and new ways for players to interact.

The Fox Ghost can shape-shift into any other character available in the game. Place the Fox Ghost Token on a character card to gain access to both that character’s active ability and sight preference ability.

The Demon threatens characters in his line of sight, reducing their sightseeing score by 3 points. Players can respond by using the “shift” lantern, if it has not already been used, to move a character to another place. Placing a cat offers another defense: characters belonging to a player with a cat are not affected by the Demon’s eyes.

• Place a cat to avoid the Demon’s effect.
• Gain 1 prestige point and the nature element shown on the cat’s card.
• Use the Fox Ghost to borrow another character’s abilities.
• Use the Ghost Soldier to buy a decoration card without placing the decoration.

The Ghost Soldier, bound to the Great Wall, also provides a powerful scoring opportunity. If placed in the garden, he grants 3 prestige points without a requirement, or 7 points if he can see the Great Wall in the panoramas within his line of sight.

With its shape-shifting Fox Ghost, dangerous Demon, protective cats, and rewarding Ghost Soldier, Tang Garden: Ghost Stories brings intriguing supernatural elements and fresh interaction to the garden.
