About this board game

Tears of a Goddess is a solo comic adventure game for one player, with an approximate play time of 130 minutes. Set in a medieval Asian universe, it casts you as a bounty hunter pursuing three experienced criminals who stole relics of divine essence from the Nüwa Temple.

The theft was driven by greed, but its consequences threaten to plunge the city into an era of plagues and cataclysms. You agree to hunt down the looters because every contract is valid if it is lucrative, taking the role of a heroine whose decisions shape an immersive story.

Part comic and part game, the experience belongs to the series subtitled “The comic in which you are the hero.” You progress through comic panels containing clues, riddles, and traps, choosing where to go and what to do as the investigation unfolds.

Your character sheet functions much like one from a role-playing game, recording the information that matters during your pursuit:

  • Possessions and special abilities
  • Coins and victory points
  • Progress through the unfolding adventure

Success depends on more than simply following the story. Use your visual perception to spot clues and apply your intelligence to resolve the riddles. Your choices can guide your progress, but the dangers are real: as in any game, you can lose—and sometimes really badly.

With its blend of illustrated storytelling, investigation, decisions, and puzzle-solving, Tears of a Goddess offers a focused one-player journey through a threatened city and a hunt for the three thieves.
