About this board game

Terra Futura is an engine-building card game for 2–5 players, played in about 40 minutes, in which you create a land of tomorrow by developing a 3 × 3 territory.

Each turn, choose a card from the display and place it in your territory. Its position matters: placing a new card activates every card in the same row and column, allowing your developing engine to produce resources and goods.

There are different ways to shape your economy. You can pursue a quick route by using international transport and speeding up production, or take a slower, cleaner approach. Faster progress comes with a cost, however, because these actions create pollution.

• Build your territory card by card until it reaches a 3 × 3 grid.
• Activate rows and columns whenever you place a new card.
• Manage pollution, which can block cards and prevent some resources from scoring.
• Use your secret scoring card to guide your final activation and bonus points.

Pollution is a vital part of Terra Futura rather than simply a penalty to avoid. Used carefully, it may help you obtain needed resources faster, but polluted cards can reduce your final score.

The game ends once all players have completed their nine-card territories. Everyone activates their grid one more time according to their secret scoring card, then scores points for acquired resources and goods, along with bonuses from that card. Finally, points are subtracted for each polluted card, and the player with the strongest future is announced as the winner.
