TETO

About this board game

TETO is a team word-decoding competition for 4–10 players that takes about 30 minutes. Work with your teammates to decipher every word on your secret cards before the opposing team can complete its challenge.

Each turn begins with a 30-second timer. After the first turn, discard cards from the deck until a new consonant appears. The player in turn then reads the top unguessed word on their secret card, replacing every consonant in that word with the letter shown on the top card of the deck.

The altered word is only the beginning. Once it has been read aloud, the player may read it again while gesturing with their body. Their teammates must listen carefully, watch closely, and use the unusual spoken clue and physical performance to work out the original secret word.

• Compete in teams of 4–10 players.
• Use a changing consonant to transform the words on secret cards.
• Combine spoken clues with body gestures to help teammates guess.
• Race against the 30-second timer and the opposing team.

Players continue taking turns and revealing the words their team has not yet guessed. The game ends when one team correctly guesses all the secret words appearing on all of its cards.

The opposing team then receives one final turn to draw the game, provided it did not take the first turn of the game. With its blend of wordplay, listening, visual attention, and energetic gestures, TETO challenges teams to cooperate quickly while making sense of deliberately transformed words.
