About this board game

Thalara: The Last Artifacts is a fast-paced, highly interactive asymmetric hand-building strategy card game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 30 minutes. Released in 2021, it challenges players to fight for the last artifacts before the world’s dwindling magic disappears.

At the heart of the game is a distinctive hand-locking mechanic. During each round, more of your cards become locked to your hand and remain available for use in subsequent rounds. Your hand therefore develops over time, creating a lasting strategic plan rather than a constantly changing set of options.

Thalara: The Last Artifacts puts control over card selection directly in your hands. Instead of relying on the luck of the draw, you select every card you draw from your personal card pool. Every spell is available all the time and remains visible on the table in front of you, allowing you to make informed decisions as you build your hand.

  • Asymmetric characters: Choose a character that suits your preferred playstyle.
  • Low luck: Select each card from your personal pool rather than depending on random draws.
  • Hand building: Develop your options through cards that become locked into your hand.
  • Direct competition: Fight other players for the artifacts needed to preserve your power.

The available characters offer different levels of complexity. Some can be learned in seconds, while others provide depth that can take a lifetime to master. With its visible card pool, evolving locked hands, and asymmetric choices, the game gives every player a fair chance to compete while rewarding careful planning and mastery of a chosen character.
