About this expansion

The 7th Continent: The Crystal’s Song is an adventure game for 1–4 players, with a listed play time of 1000 minutes. It introduces a short curse, alternative game modes, and fresh challenges for explorers returning to the continent.

The featured Crystal’s Song curse lasts 1–2 hours and offers high replayability. Instead of normal discovery cards, it uses new crystal Discovery cards. Explore and move forward until no crystal Discovery cards remain, then determine whether the curse has been broken.

Several optional modes let you change how the adventure feels:

  • Prodigy mode: Start with five additional action cards. These powerful cards provide extra achievements, keywords, and skills to make actions easier, activate character skills, and offer protection.
  • Immortal mode: Place the medallion in your backpack at the beginning of the adventure. If you fail because of an unexpected turn of fate, the magic brings you back into an adventure, although eternal life comes with a price.
  • “There is a traitor among us!” mode: Secretly draw one of seven fate cards. Some have no immediate effect, while others demand that you murder an explorer at the best possible time—or die in a cruel way.

Each fate card has a different impact, so meeting fellow explorers can bring uncertainty as well as danger. The Crystal’s Song gives The 7th Continent additional ways to play, whether you want a faster introduction, greater power, a forgiving safety net, or a hidden threat within the group.

This expansion is not needed if you already own the Kickstarter campaign’s What Goes Up, Must Come Down collector’s edition in the white box.
