About this board game
The Daedalus Sentence is a cooperative escape game for 1-4 players, designed to play in about 60 minutes. Trapped inside the alien Hive, players must explore a dangerous, ever-changing prison and escape before the facility’s guards and creatures overwhelm them.
The game’s central feature is a rotating board made up of four rings. Players begin in the central prison cells and work outward, spending limited actions to reveal hidden tiles, overcome guards, influence enemies, and alter the layout of the maze itself. Every decision matters, since an action that helps one prisoner may put a teammate in danger.
- Explore concealed tiles to uncover each ring and locate the gate to the next area.
- Manage enemies that appear through exploration and drawn cards.
- Use the Theseus Device to glimpse upcoming movement and enemy cards.
- Reach the final exit on the outer ring and escape together.
The Theseus Device gives players a limited view of the future by holding eight cards that determine how the rings and enemies will move. Although the cards begin hidden, die rolls and emergency card plays can reveal what is coming, allowing the group to plan around future alignments and enemy patrols. As more rings are breached, additional cards activate each round, increasing the pressure.
Optional difficulty enhancers let groups adjust the intensity, including a timed mode that creates a frantic race to find the exit. The Daedalus Sentence also supports a one-versus-all format, with one player controlling the labyrinth and its minions. Players who prefer a tense science-fiction escape challenge can test their communication, coordination, and planning against a prison that never stays still.
